Negative Capability is a literary device first used by John Keats, a great romantic poet, to describe the pursuit of beauty despite contradicting elements and philosophical uncertainty. This is especially applicable to characters.

My personal philosophy is that some of the most fascinating people have their own negative capabilities. They are dynamic, inconsistent, and can have qualities that don’t always seem to go hand in hand.

For example, I am a total book geek who also loves working in fashion. I currently reside in Portland, Oregon where I am working towards my MA in book publishing. In addition, I am a lingerie specialist at a high-end retailer and have worked as a stylist and associate for various brands and boutiques. Previously, I served as a marketing and publicity intern for Tin House Books. In my free time I enjoy searching for the best happy hour in town, taking day trips out of the city, and testing new recipes.
